The [http://laptop.org/en/ olpc] project is intended to help bridge the digital gap between the different nations of the world.The project is also known as "A laptop for $100".The project suppies hundreds and thousands of laptops to countries which lack a computer infractructure.This laptop has very special characteristics,like for example a special keyboard designed for children,a special screen which can be used in direct sunlight, and special wireless capability.The network card is especially powerful.

The hardware and software that it uses were developed specially for this project.The software allows for cooperation and interaction between users,and creates a local network which allows for information sharing and different activities between the users.It creates a network which is social, and educational.
Samples can be downloaded from the project website, and they are also part of the linux central distribution.

AT the Peres Peace Centre, a number of olpc machines were found of the first experimental model,and since these machines are much weaker than the ones currently being sold,it is necessary to make some adjustment to the operating system..The purpose of the project is to adapt a version of http://www.debian.org Debian] to make the computers suitable for a Pilot scheme in the south of the country.
